Dietician - Tonia Talbot

Tonia is employed by Nelson Bays Primary Health.  She attends the Stoke Medical Centre once a fortnight and is happy to see patients for diet and nutritional advice.  To make an appointment with the Dietician phone Stoke Medical Centre on 547 7488.


District Nurses

Our team work closely with District Nursing Services.  For referrals to this service, please contact us and ask to speak to a practice nurse.  Phone 547 7488.


Health Improvement practitioner (H.i.p.) - Paige spittal

Paige is employed by Nelson Bays Primary Health, She is at Stoke Medical Centre four days a week. Health Improvement Practitioners (HIPs) are behavioural health clinicians.

HIPs help with any issues impacting on your health and wellbeing. HIPs deliver focused 20-30 minute brief intervention for all age groups.

Services are free and you can often be seen on the same day.

HIPs can help with:

- Managing thoughts, feelings, and behaviours

- Stress, anxiety, or feeling down

- Coping with Grief and Loss

- Sleep

- Alcohol and Drug use

- Relationship issues

- Coping with chronic health conditions

- Managing high cholesterol, diabetes, or cardiac conditions

- Accessing other services

About me:

I was born and raised in Nelson. I'm trained as an Occupational Therapist. Before starting at Stoke Medical I worked in various inpatient and community mental health and addiction settings, both in Wellington and Nelson.

I love being outside in nature, spending time with my friends, family and my dog Winnie.


health coach - debbie sumner

Kia Ora everyone, my name is Debbie Sumner and I am the Health coach at Stoke Medical Centre. I work here on a Monday morning and on a Wednesday and Friday. I offer free support to support adults, 18 and above here in the practice and out in the community. I can help support you to identify the things you would like to work on, help with goal setting, making lifestyle change's and I am also a friendly face to check in with.

This service can help you with

-Living well with long-term conditions including diabetes, high cholesterol and blood pressure.

-Managing stress

-Support with developing healthier lifestyle habits such as eating well and being active.

-Connecting to other community supports like quitting smoking, housing and food supports.

-Engaging with community activities.

In my spare time, I am also a yoga teacher, teaching classes in the community and at special events. I enjoy camping, the outdoors, beach walks, reading books and spending time with my husband and two children.
